Traveler's Notebook Insert!!

Hello there!  Have you heard anything about the Traveler's Notebook frenzy that is soooo popular  right now?!   They are journals that you can keep a diary in, or scrapbook in or document your travels or adventures in! (Hence the cool name!)  They come in all different shapes and sizes and you can purchase a nice cover to keep your book or books in!  Really fun stuff!!  You can buy pre-made inserts for your book cover or you can make your own!!  That is exactly what I did today!  Take a look:

I cut a whole pile of the Delightful daisy DSP intp 8 1/4" x 8 1/4" squares and scored them at 4 1/8".  Then I did the same with a few sheets of Whisper White card stock. Since the DSP is patterned on both sides I wanted to add a few white pages to break up all the color and give me some space to journal. I folded them all on their score lines and stacked them one on top of another alternating in the white paper.

To make my cover I cut a sheet of Crumb Cake card stock 8 1/4" (height) x 8 1/2 (wide)".  I scored it at 4 1/4" (on the 8 1/2" side) and laid it on top of the pile.  I made sure they were all lined up really well and clipped them together.  I put the whole stack on a folded up towel to create a squishy base. I opened my stapler all the way open and stapled into the seam in three places. I lifted the whole stack and made sure that the staples went through in the seam of each piece and not off to the side.  Then using my bone folder I folded the staple ends inward to 'lock' them closed and I had a bound journal! I stamped the cover using the Fabulous Flamingo set (which I have decided I love, love, love!!) and my sentiment is from High Tide.

Here is a view from the top to show all of the different pieces of DSP!  Lots of fun color!

An example of one of the pages!

And another!

And another!

We will be having a much anticipated visit with our grand kiddos soon and I plan to use this book to document that visit!!  I will add loads of pictures and notes and maybe some souvenirs!!  We are so excited!!

You're the best!

Hello, hello!  It's Monday...start of a new week!  How are you doing?  Hope all is well with you!  I have a happy, new card to share with you!  It is chilly here today and I found myself feeling a little bit anxious for Spring to make an appearance, so I pulled out some Spring-y colors for my card!

My card base is Pool Party and my layers are Blushing Bride and Whisper White.  I embossed the side of the Whisper White piece with one of the Petal Pair Embossing Folders.  They are neat because they are smaller than the full sized ones.  My stamped images are from the Watercolor Words stamp set and the Garden in Bloom stamp set.  My sentiment is cut from the Stitched Shapes Framelits and then layered against a Scalloped Square from the Layering Square Framelits.

The Garden in Bloom stamp set is a Two Step stamp set.  That is how I created the flower.  I stamped the outline in Tempting Turquoise and then filled in the color with Blushing Bride.  The center is Melon Mambo.  I fussy cut it out and added it to the card with a Stampin' Dimensional. I stamped the leaves (also in a two step process) before adhering the flower to the card!  Easy peasy!

Christmas card Sunday #9

Hello there!  Time for another Christmas card!  I am so excited to say that I am building up quite a nice little stock pile of cards!  Come Christmas time I will be all set to send out my holiday greetings!  Yay!  Are you playing along?!  It's not too late!  Pull out your Christmas stamps and let's make a card or two!!  I have one to share with you today:

My card base is Whisper White and my layers are Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler with a little bit of Pear Pizzazz and Silver Glimmer paper thrown into the mix!  I used the Detailed Santa Thinlits for my die cut image and the fun sparkly stars! The sentiment is from the Christmas Pines stamp set and I punched it out using the Everyday Label punch.

I embossed the card base with the Quilt Top Embossing Folder and added a scalloped strip in Crumb Cake using the Decorative Ribbon Border punch.  I punched a 1 1/2"  circle from Silver Glimmer paper and cut it in half and tucked it under the whole thing!  I think it helped the whole card to have a more balanced feel.  Funny how placement can make the whole card feel like it is going to topple over!

Here are all of the products that I used to create my card today:

I am off to squeeze in a few more weekend-y type things into my day!  I hope that you have a wonderful day and as always I thank you for stopping by to visit!  I will see you soon!
