Thankful for you shadow box

Hey there!  Ever made a shadow box card?  They are so neat!  The are 3-Dimensional cards that sit upright as their own little masterpieces!  You can see into it from the outside without having to open anything.  I made a Fall shadow box card today and couldn't wait to share it with you! Take a look:

My little shadow box measures 5" x 8 1/2".  I used Very Vanilla to make the base and covered it with Designer paper from the Wood Textures collection.   I added Fall to the inside and Fall to the outside!

Here is the view from the top of the shadow box card.

I used Layering Square Framelits to cut out the window of the card and dressed the whole thing up with die cuts from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  I crunched up my little leaves and covered them with Copper Shimmer paint.  The large leaf is cut from a Copper Foil sheet.

Would you like the how to details so you can make one of your own?
Keep in mind that you can make yours any size that you would like!  The directions that follow are for one that measures 5" x 8 1/2", but feel free to alter away!

Let's get started:

Start by cutting 2 5" x 8 1/2" pieces of card stock.

Next you are going to score at 1 1/8" and then 2 1/4".  Flip over and repeat on the other end.  Do the same thing for your second piece of card stock.

Cut a piece of paper from the Wood Texture DSP that measures  4 1/8" x 5".

Next cut 4 strips measuring 1 1/8" x 5".  Be sure to keep all of your wood grain running in the same direction!

Adhere all 5 pieces to one piece of your card base.  Make sure not to cover your score lines.  Keeping them free of paper will allow the card to easily bend where it needs to.

Now it is time to cut out a window!  I used the largest square from the Layering Square Framelits, but you can use any shape you would like!

Quick tip!!  You can use a post it note to hold your Framelit in place while you run it through the Big Shot!

Time to decorate the bottom piece of cardstock.  This is the one without the wood grain paper on it.  I made a whole Fall scene complete with a gorgeous Fall tree, sitting place, setting sun and rake from a job not quite done!

To create my sun I used a scrap of paper that I had previously punched a circle from and held it in place while I sponged Crushed Curry inside of it!  When you lift the cardstock up you are left with a perfect circular sun!

To do the sky I used the circle I punched out to cover my perfect sun and sponged around it in Pool Party!  Worked like a charm!

Once you are satisfied with the innards of your card it is time to adhere the front to the back.  You are going to fold your pieces opposite from one another like shown above so they fit together on the ends.

Glue together just the end pieces so your card takes on this ^^^ shape!

It should look like this now!  You can add stuff to the front as well to really dress it up!

Here is my finished card one more time.  The beauty of this little guy is that it will fold flat for mailing and then pop right back into shape for displaying!  Fun, fun!!

If you would like to make a card similar to the one I made today you can find all of the supplies here: (click any picture!)

I cannot wait to see what you come up with!

I am off to get a few more things on my To Do list To Done!  I hope that you have a wonderful day!  I will be back soonest with more to share!
