What a day! : )

Today was International Day in our Home School Group! We chose China as our country and did several projects! We made the Great Wall of China out of sugar cubes (which one of the little guys in our group kept insisting on trying to take a bite out of!). We researched the Chinese Zodiac and I discovered that I am a dog! (1970) We made a kite and the Chinese flag! We researched Panda bears (did you know it takes up to 3 1/2 years to determine the gender of one of those cute black and white bears!). We made mock weapons and did a paper on silk worms! We also made several chinese lanterns and learned to write the numbers up to 12 in Chinese! We made chicken fried rice and served fortune cookies! I have included a picture of our project displayed! : )

This is one of three similar cards that I made recently! One was a thank you card and the other two were thinking of you cards. I used the grid technique and added some buttons for interest! I really like this technique! I roughed up the edges and sponged the backgrounds of all pieces. I used a craft blade to lift the wings of the butterfly and doodled a dot dash pattern around the edges. I used a bright pink flower brad and a tiny green loopy ribbon. I made photo mattes by cutting a green scalloped square in half and used a white gel pen to add dots! The card base is 5.5 X 5.5 square and textured. Stamps are SU! and a Michael's dollar stamp. I used one of my favorite color combos...pink, cream, brown and green!

My son's girlfriend turned 18 this weekend! He jokes that this is a very expensive month for him! They celebrated his birthday, her birthday, their one year anniversary and Valentines day all within a two week span! : )

We went out to dinner with her family and topped the evening off with ice cream from ColdStone's...yummmmm!!!

I made her a little card and these letters to take to college with her to hang on her dorm room wall! I think she liked them! :) I faux stitched around the edges and mod podged the paper in place and then sealed it with the mod podge. I also ran a gold marker around the edges of the letters to create a gold trimmed look! Too cool! : ) (Great big thanks to Jane for the gold marker gift! )

Thank you Big Sister!!!!

I got the most fun package from my big sister ever today!!! : ) I was so excited to open it and was thrilled with it! She did an amazing job with the card and included some fun farm animal buttons and some adorable stamped images! I LOVE it! We still have not revealed our identities to our sister's yet so I do not know who to thank, but want you (Big sister!!) to know I really love my package!! Thank you!! Can't wait to find out who you are! : ) I included a picture of all of my fun goodies!

LOVE is in the air!!

Hope that everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day!! I sure did! We had a very nice dinner with all of my kids and my oldest son's girlfriend! Stuffed shells, garlic bread, steamed broccoli and chocolate cake filled with mousse and topped w/strawberries! Hubby surprised me w/ a dozen red roses! :) He's such a sweetie!

Thought I would share some of our Valentine's Day projects with you! I made two cards for my hubby! I couldn't decide which route to go...sweet or a little sassy, so I went with both! : ) The stamps are from the Rubbernecker company! I have fallen hard for these stamps and this company! Really great stuff!!! Awesome quality! Very reasonable prices!

My son asked me to help him make his sweetie a Valentine card too! I basically laid all of the supplies out and said, " go!" I helped a little towards the end, but he did an awesome job all on his own! He said he was worried she would think he let a 4 year old make it! LOL She was actually quite impressed! : ) I have included a photo of him hard at work and one of the finished project! Talk about making a stamping mama proud...! Big grin!

Some swaps to share!

I recently participated in 2 fun swaps and wanted to share my projects with you! : ) The first swap was a 3-D swap! Anything goes except a card! The second one was a 6 X 6 recipe card swap. The theme for the recipe card was a soup! I went with Peanut Butter Pumpkin soup as suggested by a friend! My 3-D swap was from a Stampin' Up template and of course I filled it with chocolate! I faux stitched on both the little purse and the recipe card using a paper piercer! Fun, fun technique! I had to make several of each, but only took pictures of a few! My 9 year old did my photography on these for me! <3

Just enough time for a quickie!

I am short on time so the pictures minus the recipes will have to do!

Toad-ally Awesome!

In an earlier post I mentioned that my son turned 18 yesterday (water works begin once again!) LOL! This was the birthday card I made for him! I used a great stamp from Rubberneck Stampers (LOVE this company!!!)! This frog is sooooo cute! They have a whole line of really adorable frogs! I did not record the recipe when I made this one, so I will leave that out this time! The inside says "You're toad-ally Awesome!" Too cute! LOL Ribbet!!

Double Slider Magic!

I must be very easily amused, because this type card amazes me every time I make one! LOL They are just so fun! : ) I made this card for a very good friend of mine. I used a wonderful new stamp set from Clear Art stamps called Fairies! I LOVE this set! They are clear acrylic and the quality is excellent! I used the moon and stars stamps for the background images of the back slide and the front image. I gold embossed the swinging fairies on the front and sponged around the edges to soften the look. I stamped and colored the fairy (she is such a pretty stamp!) with bright colors and then went back and masked her body and gold embossed the outlines of her wings. (Tough to see in the picture!). I added silver Stickles to the beads in her hair for a little extra sparkle. I paper pierced around the edges of the front slider and added a little bling in the corners. The photo quality is not great...note to self; take pictures in better light! : )

Anyone have teenagers?! My first born turned 18 yesterday! It was a really tough day for me! I mean, I knew it was coming ( LOL), but all of a sudden it was here! He is such a great kid and I am soooo very proud of him! It seems like just yesterday though that he was a chubby cheeked, blonde, curious little toddler! Gosh! They grow fast! Enjoy every minute, because they zip by in a blur! Happy birthday, David! Love you lots! : )

I won!! I won!!
