What a day! : )
Today was International Day in our Home School Group! We chose China as our country and did several projects! We made the Great Wall of China out of sugar cubes (which one of the little guys in our group kept insisting on trying to take a bite out of!). We researched the Chinese Zodiac and I discovered that I am a dog! (1970) We made a kite and the Chinese flag! We researched Panda bears (did you know it takes up to 3 1/2 years to determine the gender of one of those cute black and white bears!). We made mock weapons and did a paper on silk worms! We also made several chinese lanterns and learned to write the numbers up to 12 in Chinese! We made chicken fried rice and served fortune cookies! I have included a picture of our project displayed! : )

What a great display, Ann Marie! Sounds like you had a lot of fun and learned a lot to boot! I laughed when I read the part about the Great Wall! Kids are so cute!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great time! So did you take a bite? :D I can't believe it takes some years to find out about the gender. Glad it's not our problem. Imagine now knowing if we have a boy or a girl until "it" is 3-ish. Ha!
ReplyDeleteHow clever to use sugar cubes!! I would have been the kid eating them if I was there haha!!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. What a cool thing to do. I remember going to the International Festival when I was a kid, but it would have been so much cooler to be involved in the process and learning about everything! I also must add that I just love Panda Bears! Ever since I was a teen and saw them at Busch Gardens. I did not know about the gender issue, that is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great display. Sounds like a great learning experience for your kids---a lot of fun, too!
