Christmas card Sunday

Hello there!  Time for another Christmas card!!  Have you started on your cards yet?  The Christmas season will be upon us before we know it!  I am hoping by starting now that I will have a nice supply of cards built up by card sending time!  In theory, that will leave me lots of extra time to bake Christmas goodies and trim the tree and buy and wrap the gifties and decorate the house and stuff the stockings and ...ah what a fun time of the year!!

Here is my card for this week:

Simple card with all the traditionally festive colors!  My card base is Old Olive and the next layers are Whisper White and Real Red.  The sentiment is from Santa's Suit and is stamped in Real Red.  I used both Gold Glimmer paper and Gold Foil Sheets for this card; which I don't usually do!  I must have been feeling pretty festive myself!

I used the Santa's Sleigh Thinlits to cut out a beautiful tree and then tossed it aside! (Not really!  That would be silly! I kept it for another project!)  I used the negative image for this card.  I also ran my piece of Whisper White through the Quilt Top Embossing Folder to get the cozy quilted look!

O' Christmas Tree, o' Christmas tree.....

Here are the goodies I used to create my Christmas card today:

I do hope that you are enjoying the weekend!  If you have a few minutes, pull out out your reds, greens, whites and gold and Christmas it up a bit!

I will be back soonest with more to share!

Scrappy cat-urday!

Hello and and happy weekend!!  I am on a mission to use up my scraps, so I have decided that every Saturday I will try to make my project using mostly my left over scraps from the prior week!  Anyone else do this?  I have been crafting like a mad woman lately so I had lots to choose from this week!!  I am proud to say that every piece of my card today was a left over scrap!  Yay!  Go me!!  Take a peek:

My card base is Crumb Cake.  The center circles are actually cut from the base and not added on top.  I layered Whisper White and Blushing Bride behind the open hole!  The sentiment is from the Eastern Beauty stamp set and the gold pieces are punched with a standard hole punch from Gold Glimmer paper.

I used one of the tiny stamps from Eastern beauty to stamp the design on the card front.  It filled in the white space and added a little extra color.  It is stamped in Blushing Bride.

The sweet kitty is punched from the Cat punch and I made her a collar from a scrap of Blushing Bride and an enamel dot heart!

Did I mention that this is a quick and easy card that is made entirely of left over scraps?! LOL

Here are the goodies that I used to make my scrappy card today:

I hope that you are enjoying the weekend!  I will be back soonest with more to share!  Until then dig out some of your scraps and you know...get scrappy!!

I believe in you!

Hello!  I know I do not need to tell you, but life is hard!!  Some days it is much more of a challenge than other days and sometimes you just need a little boost from a buddy to get you through.  I made a card today to offer just such a boost!    I have lots of friends going through things right now and I just wanted to send all of them a little bit of encouragement!!  So, this card is for you if you are having a tough day or if you are feeling down or if you are feeling like the world is dumping on you in massive proportions!  I offer you the sentiment behind this card and a great big hug!! :)

This stamp set is so much fun!!  I happen to be a big fan of mermaids and this one is an absolute beauty!!  My card base is Basic Gray and I added a layer of Pool Party and then Whisper White.  I wanted to add some ocean colors, but did not want to color the whole background.  I went with Soft Sky, Tempting Turquoise and Old Olive.  I stamped the squares in that order cascading down the page with a clear block!!  How cool is that?!  I added some flow-y seaweed and some air bubbles and the background was complete!

I used several of the new Stampin' Blends to color in the mermaid and then covered her in Wink of Stella!  She glimmers and glistens just like a mermaid should! After  I colored her I fussy cut her and added her to the card using dimensionals.  I stamped my sentiment and punched it out with a circle punch and then punched out a slightly larger circle to mat it against.  The new Blends will be available November 1st to purchase!!!  Woooooo!

After she was on the card I added a shadow with the Smoky Slate Bends marker.   It is subtle, but gives the illusion that she is floating! I really think it is the little details that make a card so much fun!

This is how I created the colored blocks in the background!  You can use any block and any stamp pad!  You can make it a darker sploosh of color by stamping directly or you can stamp off once on a scrap of paper and then stamp your project for a lighter shade!
