Hiya!! Well, looks like we survived the snow madness! Sun is out and starting to melt things away already! Going to be a few days before things return to normal though and we can get out of our house. We live at the top of a loooong windy driveway!
I have a fun project to share with you today! These little guys have been around for a while, but I haven't made one in forever! Thought I would revisit this oldie, but goodie with you! These little guys are called Bag-a-lopes and they earn their name because you start out with an envelope and wind up with a gift bag!! Fun, right?! Take a look:
How cute is that?! They will hold lots of fun little goodies!! You could add a pair of socks and a gift card and a candy bar!! You could fill it with candy or nail polish and manicure set! So many fun possibilities. I used 2 different sizes to make these. You can use any size envelope that you have.
This gives you an idea of the stuffing capacity!
View from the side.
I am including a tutorial so you can make oodles of these too!
Start with an envelope of your choice. Any one will do, but keep in mind that the smaller the envelope the smaller your gift bag will be.
First things first, seal your envelope!
Now you are going to score on both sides of your envelope. This is your choice as to how wide you want your bag to be. Whatever you score at will double the width of the bag. For instance, if you want your bag to be 1" wide then score at 1/2" on either side. If you want it to be 2", then score at 1". I scored my small envelope at 1/2" and my larger one at 1". Be sure to score the same on either side. (right and left).
Time to score the bottom. You will score at the same measurement that you scored your sides.
Once your envelope is scored on both sides and the bottom, you can cut off the top. This will open your bag!
On to the fun part! Time to decorate your bag!
Once it is decorated, you can fold on all of your score lines.
Gently open your envelope (about to be a bag!) and fold/crease all of the score lines again. You are creating the bag shape here.
Fold the triangles outward on the bottom and crease everything really well.
The bottom should look like this. Using the adhesive of your choice fold in and adhere the triangles to the bag base.
Next punch some holes! (This part is optional!) Thread a ribbon through and tie in a bow to keep your bag closed! You could use a clip instead or simply fold the top over too.
Another view of my envelopes turned bags! Cute, cute, cute!!
Here are the goodies I used to create my little project today:
Have a wonderful day!! I will see you soon!
Thanks for sharing your tutorial for this project! Is there a way to download or print it out? Or can I just highlight, copy and print?! Me? I need the directions in front of me when making something; and don't always have my computer with me!
ReplyDeleteSure thing! Happy to share! You can probably click on the blog title and then print from there. Or you can copy and paste the directions into a notepad type document and print those! Feel free to email me with any questions! Big hug!
