Happy New Year!!

Well, hello there!!  Happy New Year to you and you and you!!  I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and a fun New Year's celebration!  We were finally able to get all of our kids and grands together this past weekend for a jam packed weekend of fun!!  It makes my heart so happy to have them all together in one place!  The house was super noisy and extremely chaotic and I couldn't have been any happier!!  I will share some picture at the end of my post!

Right now though I have a fun little project to share with you!  I have decided that this is going to be the year of documentation!! I think that documenting memories is so important and I want to start keeping better track of everything!  Ever heard of a junk journal? I threw one together this morning to start collecting memorabilia right away!  They are basically albums that you create using standard and non standard supplies.  You can then add all sorts of things to them.  Pictures, receipts, clothing tags,  movie ticket stubs, fortune cookie messages, pamphlets etc. Here is the one I made:

It measures 5 1/2" x 6" and is stuffed full of pages!!  I used Petal Promenade DSP for the majority of the pages and my cover is Petal Pink.  I stamped the cover with images from the Enjoy Life stamp set and added some Silver Glimmer butterflies from the new (available Jan 3) Butterfly Duet punch in the new catalog!

Here is a view from the top!  It was super, duper easy  to make and I cannot wait to fill it full of memories!

I started by grabbing a handful of DSP.

Then I gathered several miscellaneous things from around my stamp room.  I used 3 different sizes and types of envelopes, a paper bag and some paper I tea dyed a little while back!

Next I cut everything down to size. I wanted to use card stock as my cover and the biggest size I had would allow me to make my book 5 1/2" wide.  I folded all of my page supplies over!  I wanted my pages to be different sizes so I folded them in different places.

Next I tucked each one into the next one creating a book.

Then I took a piercing tool and poked two holes in the entire stack.

Then I took a needle and a strand of bakers twine and ran it up through each hole and tied them snugly together.  I left the strings long and may eventually attach a charm of some sort to them.

Here are a few examples of some of the pages.

I love the way the different sized pages add visual interest!

Here is the finished book one more time:

Here are all of the goodies that I used to create my junk journal today:

Here are a few of those pictures I mentioned from our fun weekend:

There is just something so special about spending time with the people you love!  We had a great weekend and I am so very grateful for all of them!

Ok, my To Do list is long today, but I wanted to stop by and visit with you!  be sure to stop by again soon!  I have lots of fun new things to share with you!  Have a great day!
