Card box and a fun bow tut!

Hey there!  I have had oodles of people ask about my bow from the Christmas tag I made on Saturday.  You can find that here if you'd like to take a look!  It was one of those really simple things to do, but one that offers a big WOW!!  I wanted to share it with you today, so I made a fun little card box (which also could hold all kinds of other gifts for the giving!) and a simple tut!  It really is so easy to make!  Take a look:

Here is the card box dressed up with one of those fancy, schmancy bows in question!  Isn't it just the cutest!  Neat thing about this box (besides the fact that it will hold lots of fun goodies!!) is that it is made from a single sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of card stock!  Say whuuuut?!

Here it is holding some cards!  You could fill it full of blank cards and envelopes and give it away as a gift!  Personally, I prefer to jam pack it full of chocolate goodness and eat i...I mean give it away that way!  Totally up to you though! *big grin!*  It holds standard A2 sized cards. (4 1/4" x 5 1/2")

Close up of the bow (and also the tag that comes in the same set of stamps and Thinlits!!)!  I added some sparkle by slathering with the Wink of Stella clear pen.  Now that thing is for real happiness in a tube!!

Ok, on to the particulars...

I used this set!  It is called Bring on the Presents and can be found in the new Holiday catalog!  I happen to be a BIIIIIIG fan of bows, so this one called out to me the second I cracked open the catalog!!  I mean...just look at all of those bow options!!

These are the coordinating  Thinlits and they are called All the Presents Thinlits.

Ok, here is what I did to make this bow:

I stamped the large bow 2 times and the small one once.  Then I used the Thinlits that you see here to cut out one of the large bows and one of the small ones.  I also cut 2 of the strips for my card box up above.  (The Thinlits come with 2 of each design, so I was able to cut everything out with one pass of the Big Shot!

Next I fussy cut the remaining bow, cutting away some of the bottom looking layer of bow.  I cut out what looked good as a second layer.

This is what it looked like after I cut away the excess.

Here are the pieces together.

To get that 3D look (or look of lift and floof!) I layered them one on top of another; separating them with dimensionals.

Like this!  Pictured here I used a whole dimensional, but you can trim down the second one if you'd like.  (If you do not, it peeks out from under the top layer the teeniest of bits!)

Next I stuck them together and this bow is the end result!  Play with it a little before you commit to the stick though!  Turn it around and around until you are happy with the way it looks layered.

Side view of the lift and the floof!  ....and that is it!! Happy bow at it's finest!!

One last picture of the empty box with the fun bow on the front!
