Let's get punch-y!

Heeeey there!  How are you? Today felt like a great day to drag out some (Ok, a lot!) of my punches and do some playing!  Do you like punches?  I loooove them!  They are quick and easy to use and if you stare at them long enough you can often come up with other uses for them than their intended design! That is a really fun challenge!  I made a card that uses DSP and lots and lots of punches!!  Want to see?!

I have been wanting to make a Z fold card for a while and decided today would be the perfect day for it!  I punched, I stamped, I scored, I folded!  These cards are really neat, because they stand up display fashion and there is lots of room for decorating and embellishing.  Here it is standing up!

Here is is laying flat!

1) I started with a piece of card stock measuring 4 1/4" x 11".

2) I scored it @ 2 3/4" and again at 5 1/2" (on the 11" side).

3) I added Crushed Curry pieces cut @ 2 1/2" x 4" and 4" x 5 1/4".

4) Then I added my DSP (from the Painted Autumn pack) cut @ 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" and 3 3/4" x 5".

5) To make the strip on the front  I cut it 2" x 11".

6) I scored it @ 2 3/4" and 5 1/2".

7) I attached the 5 1/2" side of the strip to the first small section of the card ONLY adding glue to half the piece and then glued the last small section of the strip to the card base o the 5 1/2" side only gluing it to the the last half of the panel.  That allows the card to open and close and the strip to swing back and fourth.
This is the basic formula for creating a z fold card.  Easy peasy!

View from the top!

I used oodles of punches on my card today!  My pumpkin is made from punches!  The scalloped border along the bottom is a punch.

The inside uses 3 different punches!

This part of the card uses goodies from this month's Paper Pumpkin kit.  I layered lots of the die cuts, stickers and stamped images from the the kit and added a linen thread bow tie.  I thought it made a pretty little Fall cluster.

Thought I would share how I made my pumpkin!

I punched three circles using the 1 3/4" Circle Punch and sponged the edges.  I glued them together and ran them as a whole through the Seaside Embossing Folder.

To make the stem and leaves I punched these pieces using the Leaf Punch and the Tree builder punch. I flipped the tree trunk upside and glued it in place behind my pumpkin and then cut off the two extra leaves and glued that in place.  Pumpkin!!

Here is a complete list of everything I used to make my card today.

  2. Great idea on the pumpkin! It looks really good. The sentiment and how you layered it turned out perfect as well.
