Hey there! Are you ready for Spring yet?! Warm weather, tweeting birdies, flutterbyes and bumblebees! What's not to love, right?! My project today was totally inspired by Spring and also a bunch of lovely flowers blooming on my bar! Today I made a fun project that is definitely an oldie, but a goodie! Have you ever heard of a bag-a-lope? It is a small, little bag that you make from an envelope..."Bag-a-lope!" They are so easy and adorable!! Take a look:
This cute little thing is made from a plain white envelope!!!
It is a little bag now! I stamped it all up and decorated it and tied it closed with a ribbon! It would be perfect to hold a gift card and maybe a few pieces of chocolate or a little love note or chocolate! Did I mention chocolate?!
Here is the back side! I stamped it with the gorgeous Garden In Bloom set on the front and back. It is a Two Step stamp set and makes coloring in your images a breeze!
Want to know how to make one?
Ok, grab an envelope! You can use any size! I used an A2 envelope for mine. It measures 4 3/8" x 5 3/4". Seal it shut!
Next step is to stamp it all up and add any decorations to the front that you want on there! You can use any stamps you'd like! Be sure to stamp the front and the back!
Now we are going to do some scoring! Score 1/2" in on both sides. This will give you 1" sides when the bag is open. If you would like a wider bag then increase your score lines by scoring inward towards the center more. (if you score 1" you will have 2" sides, 2" will give you 4" sides etc.)
Now score 1/2" from the bottom. This will give you a 1" base when your bag is open.
Next step is to cut off the end (opposite the score line you just made!).
Now gently pry open the bag from the cut end you just made and work out the sides and bottom by pushing the score lines gently in towards the inside of the envelope.
It should start to look like this. Let the triangular folds on the bottom point out. Gently crease all of your score lines with your fingernails to get crisp looking edges.
The bottom should look like this! Glue the points down on to the bag bottom so that they are no longer pointing outward.
The bottom should look like this now!
I used a standard hole punch and made two holes on the top. I threaded through my ribbon and tied it shut! You could also fold down the top if you would like before punching your holes and adding your ribbon.
Here are all of the goodies I used to create my bag-a-lope today:

Here are those blooming flowers I mentioned earlier! They were a love note from the hubs!
You should definitely try making one of these little guys!! They are a lot of fun! If you do, please leave me a comment and let me know how it went!
Ok, I am off to work out and take the hound to the park! I hope you have a wonderful day!
